SELF BUILD ROUGES GALLERY

THERE ARE OBVIOUSLY HUNDREDS OF SELF BUILD CAMPERS ON THE ROAD AND WHILST SOME ARE DONE TO A HIGH STANDARD THERE ARE MANY MORE THAT ARE POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS. BUILDING OR BUYING A HOME BUILT CAMPER WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CAN BE A MINEFIELD.

THIS PICTURE IS A TYPICAL SELF BUILD GAS INSTALL.

THERE ARE AT LEAST EIGHT FAULTS IN THIS PICTURE. IF YOU CANNOT NAME ALL EIGHT ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE HAPPY TO BUILD YOUR OWN GAS INSTALL.
TO START THE BALL ROLLING THE FIRST FAULT YOU CANNOT SEE, THE FLEXI PIPE IS 6 YEARS OUT OF DATE.
THESE TWO PICTURES SHOW SOME 240V MAINS CABLE ROUTED UNDERNEATH ANOTHER CAMPER. THE CABLE IS IN PROTECTIVE SLEEVE BUT AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS LAYING ACROSS THE PROP SHAFT, THIS SPINS AT VERY HIGH SPEED TO DRIVE THE REAR WHEELS AND IS RUBBING THROUGH THE PROTECTIVE SLEEVE ON ITS WAY THROUGH TO THE MAINS CABLES INSIDE...
THE PROBLEM IN THIS PICTURE MAY BE A LITTLE HARDER TO SEE AS IT ALL LOOKS NICE AND NEAT. BUT THE BLACK PIPE IS AN AIR INTAKE FOR AN AFTERMARKET L.P.G. HEATER, AS IT IS FACING DIRECTLY TOWARD THE FRONT WHEEL ANY MUD, DIRT OR WATER THROWN UP WILL COLLECT IN THE PIPE MEANING THE GAS HEATER WILL EVENTUALLY MISFIRE FROM LACK OF CLEAN AIR. THIS WILL CAUSE IT TO OVERHEAT CREATING A FIRE RISK AND POOR COMBUSTION MEANING EXCESS CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES. DOES LOOK NEAT THOUGH....

A  GAS BBQ POINT WAS ALLEGEDLY FITTED BY THE OWNER, A "QUALIFIED" GAS ENGINEER. AS YOU CAN SEE THE JOINTS ARE NOT PROPERLY FITTED, THE REGULATOR AND VALVE ARE NO LONGER SECURED AND THE WHOLE WEIGHT IS BOUNCING ON THE GAS SUPPLY PIPE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS..
